Jane, a daughter of Lucy, was hired out in 1847 to an unknown person for an unspecified period of time. She was not available for appraisement until the day of the auction. Jane was appraised separately from her son, Sam, $250.00. Jane and her son were both offered for sale at public auction at the Farm in Alleghany County, Virginia on November 15, 1847 but they were not sold.
Jane and Sam were brought to Montgomery Hall in Augusta County, Virginia in December, 1847.
Jane was sold in the spring of 1853 to Augustine D. Chandler, $175.00. She was referred to as Jane Scott for the first time at the time of her sale.
Sally Smith, also formerly at Montgomery Hall, was sold in late 1852 to A. D. Chandler.
No record has been found of Jane’s son, Sam, after his arrival at Montgomery Hall.
Jane had a sister, Eliza, who was brought to Montgomery Hall in 1848.
