Nelson

Nelson was about 32 years old in 1827, born c. 1795. Nelson was appraised in December, 1827, $350.00. Nelson was devised by Margaret Reed’s will to her niece, Margaret Elizabeth (Smith) Garber, daughter of Reed’s sister, Elizabeth (Cunningham) Smith, and Thomas Smith and wife of Michael Garber, during her lifetime and to Garber’s daughter, Margaret Reed Garber at her death. Grace was also devised to Margaret (Smith) Garber for her lifetime and at her death to her daughter, Margaret Reed Garber.

John Howe Peyton later purchased land from Michael Garber and Margaret (Smith) Garber that became a part of the Montgomery Hall property.
