John Howe Peyton's Montgomery Hall

Bates Warren and Lisette Bell Warren

Bates Warren (1869-1940) and his wife, Lisette Bell Warren, purchased the Montgomery Hall Farm tract of about 150 acres together with all other tracts acquired by Emma J. Walter and Frank Walter for $100,000.00. The property, consisting of approximately 410 acres, was conveyed by deed on March 14, 1911.

Bates Warren, a lawyer and real estate developer in Washington, D. C., added greatly to Montgomery Hall’s existing orchards, planting thousands of apple trees. Warren and his wife enjoyed Montgomery Hall as their summer house, a country retreat miles away from Washington, D. C.

Bates Warren and Lisette B. Warren sold Montgomery Hall to John Arthur Kennedy in 1913.
